yes, and i appreciate the links/heavy-lifting. not saying i like knoll because i thinkthey sound like those bands, only that their sound makes me think of both.
No, I totally get it... they have similar elements to their sound: caustic electronics, grind, sludge. Similar in a sense to Unyielding Love and Fed Ash.
I completely get it. I didn't like FNM pre/post Patton. I should like Fantomas given some of the players involved but I don't. Same deal with Tomahawk.
absolutely. his best. i like it so much that i don’t think it’s too long. it’s his most human flick by far, as well. (probs cuz he didn’t write it.) the chemistry between pam and robert is just great. it’s a nice unexpected, unrequited romance. deniro’s great as well. samuel l. is funny and menacing. great tune.
love that beyond the grasp of light e.p. aptly titled. also dig that knoll record. knoll remind me of full of hell crossed with mr. bungle (at their most furious), no? and that bad breeding album kicks a great deal of ass. don’t think i’ve even heard of most of the other acts listed. -to the internet! (aside from immolation and voivod, of course. hard to go wrong with them. they’re like the ramones or the ac/dc of their respective niches.)
Luckily, everything is linked and you can give them a listen. Beyond the Grasp of Light is fantastic. Not sure how much recognition it gets. Knoll I enjoy far more than Full of Hell or Mr Bungle (to be honest other than that DEP ep, which I could do without the cover track, I don't think I like a minute of music Patton is hands on with). This is the first Immolation album post Alex Hernandez that I absolutely love front to back. As great of a drummer as Shalaty is, he doesn't have the weirdo off-kilter style Hernandez brings. To me Hernandez to drums is similar to Vigna to guitar. All of the Voivod stuff with Mongrain has been great. I think they've only written one terrible song with the Mongrain/Rocky duo and it happens to be on this record: "sleeves off."

is it a general aversion to patton? fantômas “the director’s cut” is pure awesome imo. reworked film themes, if you’re unfamiliar.
"it's either you or them." love all the movies they reference, but, not feeling it.
totally fair. to be clear: i am NOT a patton acolyte in any way. couldn’t stand FNM when they showed up. still, i love that album.

tomahawk = hard pass
